Julia is a registered architect and pioneering urban strategist specialising in human-centred design as a tool for social change and advocacy. She has taught and practiced architecture, placemaking and urban design from New York, Auckland and Hanoi and Sydney, building up extensive knowledge of various communities, and urban spaces that support or neglect them.
She has worked with property owners and local & state government bodies including: Dexus, ISPT, AMP Capital, Optus, City of Gold Coast, Hunter’s Hill Council, North Sydney Council, Gympie Regional Council, Arts NSW and NSW Department of Education & Training. Her work in community engagement, planning policy and urban research has been locally recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia, as well as internationally by The Guardian UK.
Julia holds a Masters of Architecture from Yale University and a Bachelor of Architecture with First Class Honours from The University of Auckland. An active Sydneysider, Julia is a member of Placemaking Leadership Council and Sydney Peace Foundation’s Young Advocates group, as well as NSW Chapter President for the Yale Club of Australia.
